Elected to City of Langley Council — 2022

One of the initial driving forces behind my decision to run in 2022 in the City was my deep frustration with the City's long-term neglect of social issues, particularly homelessness. Having worked alongside vulnerable people for decades through my pastoral ministry, I saw firsthand the human cost of inaction.

I believed Langley City deserved leadership that would finally take these issues seriously, with both compassion and accountability. Since being elected, I have worked as an active, engaged, and independent voice on Council with all Council members - across a broad range of policy areas: Housing, Affordability, Inclusionary Zoning, Rental Relocation & Tenant Protection
Community Safety, Safer & Slower Local Streets - Motion endorsed by Council,  Introduced a unanimous motion leading an initiative to transform the City's Bylaw Officer program into a dedicated Community Safety Officer program Social Services - Advocated for locating community and social services in higher-density areas (UPCC’s),  Governance, Metro Vancouver Reform & Regional Accountability;  Meaningful public engagement through public hearings and open houses; Open & Transparent and timely budget processes that keep residents informed Fiscal - Unanimous approved motion to improving Financial Transparency & Reporting Transportation - Handi-Dart In-House Delivery; Ensuring transit infrastructure keeps pace with growth Development -  Surety Bond Program; regular review of Development Cost Charge and Amenity Cost Charge rates to reflect true costs; support for densification in urban areas to maximize infrastructure efficiency, accelerate housing delivery, and build walkable, livable communities

Advocating for Langley City's needs in Ottawa

I have been part of three advocacy trips to Ottawa, meeting with federal ministers, parliamentary secretaries, and MPs to fight for Langley's fair share of funding for housing, infrastructure, transit, and public safety funds. These were working sessions with real asks for infrastructure investment, affordable housing programs, and the resources a fast-growing community needs to keep up.
