A Little More INDEPENDENT

Here’s the honest truth about a slate at the municipal level-
It’s most often about control as a voting block, driven by a pre-set agenda.
It often doesn’t even matter if that representation has experience —
as long as they get elected and support the greater block.
Because once that block owns the room,
it determines what happens and how.
Often, the result is that input, listening, collaboration take the back seat.
If you’re not on my team,
I can’t work with you - because I don’t have to.
That removes opportunity - and you; a resident, neighbour, local business, community advocate , from the centre - where you belong.
Instead, often you become just support for a position.
An agenda.
I understand why it happens.
I get how political systems work.
Party structures and Slate dynamics.
I get it.
But this isn’t Ottawa.
This isn’t Victoria.
Honestly, based on what I see as the outcomes,
that doesn’t fill me with much confidence.
Unchecked spending.
A lack of clear information & transparency
Less scrutiny.
Personal platforms
Adhoc processes.
Municipal Council is the closest, political leadership gets to YOUR actual daily life.
Water. Sewer. Roads. Safety. Parks.
Services that need to be sustainable and affordable.
I understand that as a 30-year Township resident and as a City Councillor who’s listened and talked to hundreds in our community - That’s what matters.
Sadly in a slate dynamic, polarization tends to replaces dialogue, the voting block replaces the community.
You deserve a Council that keeps you in the centre and that is expected to work together.
Working for what Langley needs today and tomorrow - not just to fulfill the will of the slate.
We expect it of everyone else in our community and our workplaces?
How do we ask it of our kids on the field, or in the classroom, if we can’t example it as adults?
That’s my commitment.
Listen to you - Work hard for you.
With all of Council - For a better Langley!
Independent. Experienced. Trusted.
Vote Independent this October !
