Experienced leadership matters.
I was elected to Langley City Council in 2022 after years of seeing the human and community cost of inaction on social issues, especially homelessness.
Through decades of pastoral ministry, I worked alongside vulnerable people and saw firsthand why compassion must be matched with accountability, public safety, and responsible governance.
There’s been progress, but Yes - much more still remains to be done.
Since being elected, I have served as an active, independent, and engaged voice on Council - working across policy areas with all of council and staff that directly affect residents’ daily lives:
Housing affordability, tenant protection, inclusionary zoning, community safety, safer streets, bylaw reform, social services, public engagement, fiscal transparency, governance, Metro Vancouver reform, transit & Handi-Dart advocacy, development cost charge reviews, amenity charges, and responsible growth.
I introduced a unanimous motion to begin transforming the City’s Bylaw Officer program into a dedicated Community Safety Officer program, and supported stronger financial reporting so residents can better understand how public dollars are spent.
I have also advocated for Langley’s needs in Ottawa through federal advocacy trips, meeting with ministers, parliamentary secretaries, and MPs to push for fair funding for housing, infrastructure, transit, and public safety.
My Council appointments have included co-chair roles on committees for socio-cultural economic development, arts and recreation, school district liaison, Fraser Health partnerships, and accessibility and inclusion — along with work on homelessness, parks, and cultural initiatives.
I believe leadership should bring experienced, independent, practical, and focused attention on people, our community needs today and for tomorrow. I also believe - Council leadership can operate better - when it seeks to work together, functionally - not oppositionally.
Langley deserves nothing less.
That’s my commitment.
I’d be honoured to have your confidence for Langley Township Council -
Vote for me, Leith White this October.
Independent. Experienced. Trusted.
